184 - I Think We Are Passed Our "Used By Date"

First of all no photies this blog boyz and girlz.

Secondly, I have been trying to change the photo above, however for what ever reason, the system will not accept any new photos. I have had this trouble for a while, and only occasionally will the system accept a change of photos......a'h well keep on trying.

For the last week here in Cairns the weather had been absolutely the pits. I knew the run of great weather wasn't going to last for ever, and when it did change.....it changed big time. So our beach activities were curtailed, and some of the spots we were going to visit didn't eventuate, so it has been a long, long week, for all sorts of reasons.

So Tuesday 9th or Wednesday 10th of October we will pack up from our sons front lawn,  and hit the road again. We have had a month here, with the last two weeks being schoolholidays........mmmmmmmmmm....of which we are glad that all in sundry will be returning to school this week, to create their mayhem on others, rather than a couple of ageing delinquents. I really think we are passed our used by date.

So where to from here. Depending on our departure time, we will head straight to Brampston Beach, which is only just down the road, and will start free camping at a few of the designated freedom camping sites between here and Townsville. From Townsville we head inland to Charters Towers, and after spending time in CT we will travel the inland road from CT to Emerald via Clermont. As much as possible we will freedom camp. Where we will end up...who knows...who cares.

So stay toooooned!

Good to see you embracing a bit of Free Camping. I can recommend Bushy Parker Park at Rollingstone, just north of Townsville.

Also Macrossan Park just before Charters Towers is good.

At Sapphire, we stayed in the Sapphire Caravan Park. So different to regular parks. It was great. Excellent happy hour with people from all over Australia who come to the gemfields.

If you head further south into northern NSW, we stayed at Boomi. Excellent little park with a hot water pool there fed from an artesian bore.

Happy travels.

Hey Stephen and Robyn

Thanks for the info on various camps. There are so many free camps between Cairns and Townsville, and appreciate your lead. We will just suck it and see on our way down where we will stay.

Macrossan Park looks good, once again appreciate these leads.

Cheers & beers

Hi Paul & Wendy,

I was just thinking the other day that it was about time you changed the main (ballon) piccie. Maybe the mayhem in Cairns has go into the computer...he he.

We have been enjoying your posts, and the piccies, it's been about 3 years since we visited FNQ so great to see it still has lovely beaches!! ;o)

Keep up the great posts, and keep truck'n or should I say Val'n.

Cheers

Hey Geoff n Hells

Thanks for dropping by. I have been using our sons computer for my blogs while here in Cairns, and I figure they have run out of down load time.

If the weather is good in FNQ so are the beaches, however when that south easter gets up, forget about working on the all over tan.

Off south bound tomorrow to who knows where.

Cheers anmd beers

Paul & Wendy

By the time you read this you will be back on the road. There are 5 associated freedom camps just north of Townsville and coming from the north the first is Bushy Parker which is a great spot but also try Balgal Beach and Saunders Beach and Bluewater and Toomula Beach...all free. All with toilets, all with water, all near some sort of store.
No photo at all on the header. Currently Parkes NSW and with the snow yesterday in South Oz it is bitterly cold and wet. Camped in showgrounds and have the heater on coz I need it. Cheers
