From Charleville we arrived in one of my favourite country towns, that being Blackall. Now Blackall has a lot of history mainly associated with Jacky Howe, who shore a gazillion sheep with hand shears and still holds the record today. Also in Blackall is the hot spring, however not unlike Mitchell, the hot spring is in the local swimming pool. Not a lot of atmosphere here.
However the CP although rated at 2.5 stars had a great atmosphere, so we stayed for two nights, before heading further west.
All rugged up for a pit stop at Tambo
Here is a dunny for Red Nomad Oz at Blackall CP

From Blackall we were going to go to the free camp at the weir at "Barky" (Barcaldine,) however when we got there, the road leading into this area was pretty chopped up, so we didn't risk getting bogged in the Val, so we turned around and headed onto Barcaldine.
It was from here we decided to venture further forth. Now we had been to Barky twice before, so rather than stop in town, we decided to push on to Longreach.
We arrived in Longreach and made the fatal mistake of booking into the largest CP in Longreach. 300 dusty treeless sites, stinking hot with not a piece of shade to cowl under. Now once again we have been to Longreach twice before, and done the Stockmans Hall of Fame and the Qantas thingy. So we stayed a couple of days. Didn't take any photos cause you can see others I have taken in previous posts.
So next stop Winton..........stay toooooooned

So...you have reached Longreach. That is our furthest point reached in a motorhome (we went all the way to Kununurra in WA in a car but that is another story) We stayed at the freedom campsite just outside of town. It was also dusty and treeless. The co-pilot declared it was too hot and dry to go any further north or west. Currently in Sydney and moving to Wollongong in a couple of days.
Gidday Frank
Currently at Katherine NT. Yep geting all the same comments from the bride. Can't turn back now only three hours outa Darwin. How long we stay is in the lap of the "Gods".
Stay tooooned for that one.
Enjoy Wollongong (he he!!!)
